What is Vollkasko Rennstrecke?

Vollkasko Rennstrecke - literally fully comprehensive cover for the circuit - is the German term for specialist trackday insurance. It covers at-fault damage to your own car while you are driving on a race circuit, which normal German Kasko policies explicitly exclude. These policies are sold by the day, by the event or by the year, and they are essential for committed trackday drivers running their own sports car.

What is covered and what is not

A track day policy typically covers collision damage, offs, and contact with other cars or with track barriers. Not covered, as a rule: mechanical failure, engine damage without an accident, tyre damage without a collision, and often timed competition as well - trackdays and open lapping only. The excess is typically between 2,500 and 15,000 euros, depending on the value of the car.

Providers and cost

In the German-speaking market only a handful of specialists write circuit cover. Premiums are driven by vehicle value, insurance type class, circuit and driver experience. For a Porsche GT3 on the Nordschleife a single-day policy can cost 500 to 1,000 euros. If you drive a lot of track miles, an annual policy can pay off.
