What is Wet Mode?

Wet Mode is a dedicated driving mode on modern Porsche models such as the 992, which adjusts the car's set-up for safety on a wet surface. Acoustic sensors in the wheel arches detect water on the circuit. The car actively suggests Wet Mode – you confirm it with a button or via the drive mode switch.

What changes

In Wet Mode the throttle responds more softly, shift points become more conservative, and ABS, PSM and PTM intervene earlier and more sensitively. Active aerodynamic elements – on the 992 Turbo, for instance – reposition themselves to increase downforce. That makes the car far more controllable where aquaplaning threatens and on a wet circuit.

Wet Mode on the circuit

On track days with changing conditions Wet Mode is a genuine gain: you keep driving with confidence instead of finding the circuit mysteriously slippery. For the last 10 % of performance on a dry line you switch back, because Wet Mode costs a little speed where the grip is actually there.

Wet Mode at ESC

Weather is not a reason to cancel a track day in Europe. At ESC events your coach explains when Wet Mode helps and how to stay composed on a wet circuit. Get faster in the rain too.
