What is a trackday?

A trackday is an organised event where you drive your own sports car or a rental car on a professional race circuit – without competition, without timing, but with full focus on driving enjoyment and progress. Unlike a race, it is not about finishing positions: it is about getting to know your car and your own limits in a safe environment.

Formats and how the day runs

Trackdays come in several formats. With the open pitlane format you decide yourself when and how often you go out. On guided sessions an experienced instructor leads a small group around the circuit. Most events start with a safety briefing covering the track layout, flag signals and the rules of conduct. Professional organisers also provide coaches who analyse your laps and help you become faster and safer.

Requirements and insurance

To take part in a trackday you normally need nothing more than a valid driving licence – a racing licence is not required. Insurance is the important question: standard motor cover usually does not apply on race circuits. At ESC you therefore drive either in your own car with dedicated trackday insurance, or in the fully insured CarForGo fleet – with no excess in the event of damage.
