What is the GT4 RS?

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is the ultimate mid-engine sports car from Zuffenhausen. Instead of the regular GT4 engine it gets the high-revving 4.0 litre naturally aspirated unit from the GT3 RS, detuned slightly to 500 hp and 9,000 rpm. Add to that PDK only, extreme aerodynamics, a weight-reduced body and carbon components.

The mid-engine advantage

The mid-engine layout gives an almost perfect weight distribution of around 50:50. The car reacts more precisely to steering inputs, is less prone to lift-off oversteer than the rear-engined 911 and forgives more at the limit. Many professional drivers regard the GT4 RS as the most precise road-legal track car in the Porsche range.

Sound and character

The air intakes behind the side windows feed engine noise straight into the cabin. That is intentional: the GT4 RS wants to be heard. Accelerating from 5,000 rpm it delivers one of the most intense sound experiences anywhere. The trade-off is less everyday comfort, more noise and a harder ride, in exchange for more emotion.
