What is the Porsche Cup?

The Porsche Carrera Cup is a brand cup racing series in which all participants drive an identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. This concept focuses on the driver — not on the budget for vehicle development. There are national series (Carrera Cup Germany, France, etc.) and the international Super Cup, which is part of the Formula One supporting program. The Cup is both a talent factory and a stage for experienced amateurs.

The 911 GT3 Cup

The Cup vehicle is based on the series GT3, but is a thoroughbred racing car: rollcage, racing seat, six-point belt, fire extinguishing system, sequential transmission (no PDK), slicks and aggressive aerodynamics. The current 992 GT3 Cup produces approx. 510 hp. Unlike the street-legal GT3 RS, the Cup is not intended for public roads — it lives on the racetrack.

Cup as a career springboard

Many of today's factory drivers and endurance champions started in the Porsche Carrera Cup. The series teaches clean racing in identical cars, where every mistake is punished and small advantages decide. For amateurs, the Cup offers the chance to compete against professionals and measure their own skills. The entry costs are high (season from around 400,000€), but the level is top notch.
