Manthey Racing – The Ultimate Porsche Performance Company

What makes the difference between a GT3 RS and a real race car? Three letters: MR. Manthey Racing transforms your 911 into a weapon for the Nordschleife. Over 1,000 kg of downforce at 285 km/h. A coilover suspension developed on the world's toughest race track. And a team that has won the 24-hour race seven times.

If you're looking for the optimal GT3 RS setup for trackdays, there's no way around Manthey Racing. Manthey Racing holds multiple records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, including the lap record for street-legal vehicles with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR.

In this guide, you'll learn everything about Manthey Racing: The history of Olaf Manthey, the legendary successes in motorsport, and – what really interests you – what the Manthey Kit costs and how to get it. Plus: How to experience Manthey expertise yourself at an ESC trackday with like-minded enthusiasts.

Manthey Racing Overview

Manthey Racing is one of Germany's most renowned motorsport teams, headquartered in Meuspath at the Nürburgring – the epicenter of international motorsport. Since its founding by Olaf Manthey in 1996, the team has developed into a permanent fixture in global racing.

The close partnership with Porsche shapes Manthey Racing's DNA: Together they've contested and celebrated victories in numerous legendary races with the Porsche 911 GT3. Especially at the 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and Le Mans, the team has written motorsport history.

Seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24-hour race and multiple triumphs at the Le Mans 24-hour race underscore the exceptional track record. Manthey Racing stands for innovation, team spirit, and the uncompromising will to extract maximum performance from both human and machine on every race track.

The History of Manthey Racing

1976: Olaf Manthey during his first race outings in the Simca Rallye 2. The future founder of Manthey Racing laid the foundation here for one of the most successful Porsche motorsport stories.

The 1996 Foundation – Olaf Manthey's Vision

Manthey-Racing GmbH was founded in 1996 by Olaf Manthey – a man whose name is now inseparably linked with Porsche motorsport. Olaf Manthey, himself a successful racing driver, recognized early the potential in combining street-legal Porsche vehicles with racing expertise.

Already in the founding year, Manthey Racing entered the Porsche Supercup. Success wasn't long in coming: By the late 90s, the team had established itself as a permanent fixture in German motorsport. The philosophy was clear from the start: uncompromising performance, coupled with the reliability indispensable for endurance racing.

Nicolas and Martin Raeder – The Current Managing Directors

Today, brothers Nicolas and Martin Raeder lead the company. Under their leadership, Manthey Racing grew into one of the world's most significant motorsport teams. The location in Meuspath at the Nürburgring – not to be confused with Freudenstadt, a common search error – offers perfect infrastructure: The Nordschleife as a development laboratory literally lies on the doorstep.

With over 350 employees, Manthey Racing today is far more than a racing team. The company develops performance upgrades for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, services customer vehicles, and deploys the factory GT cars at the world's most important endurance races.

The 2013 Porsche Takeover – A Strategic Partnership

A decisive milestone: In 2013, Porsche acquired a 51-percent majority stake in Manthey-Racing GmbH. This partnership was a win for both sides. Manthey gained access to factory resources and development budgets. Porsche secured the expertise of a team that knows like no other how to push GT vehicles to their limits.

Since then, Manthey Racing has been responsible for GT factory operations in the FIA WEC. The successes speak for themselves: class victories at the world's toughest races, records at the Nordschleife, and a dominance in motorsport that is unparalleled.

Racing Successes – Records and Titles

The legendary "Grello": With this Porsche 911 GT3 R, Manthey Racing won the Nürburgring 24-hour race multiple times. The starting number 911 and the neon green-yellow livery are cult in the motorsport scene.

Nürburgring 24-Hour Race – The Manthey Domain

If there's one race that defines Manthey Racing like no other, it's the Nürburgring 24-hour race. For many years, Manthey Racing has competed with self-built Porsche race cars. Manthey Racing has achieved seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24-hour race: 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2018, and 2021.

The team celebrated its first victory in 2006 with a Porsche 911 GT3-MR. The legendary "Grello" – the green-yellow vehicle with starting number #911 – became a symbol for endurance excellence. When the Grello thunders through the Green Hell, motorsport enthusiasts worldwide know: This is Manthey Racing.

24 Hours of Le Mans – Victories at the Highest Level

Manthey Racing has also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans multiple times, most recently in 2022 as part of the Porsche GT Team. Le Mans is the ultimate test for man and machine – and Manthey has proven that both can harmonize perfectly.

The successes at the classic endurance races underscore the technical excellence: vehicles that perform at the absolute limit for 24 hours, drivers who deliver peak performance under extreme pressure, and a team that optimally uses every second.

DTM Comeback 2023 – Double Champions in the First Year

In 2023, Manthey Racing returned to the DTM as "Manthey EMA" – and how! With two Porsche 911 GT3 R, the team immediately secured the double title: Team Championship AND Driver's Championship with Thomas Preining. Three race wins and ten podium finishes in one season showed that Manthey also belongs to the absolute top in sprint format.

In 2025, Manthey also dominated the DTM: Once again, the team secured both the driver's and team championships. The combination of proven Manthey technology and hungry drivers continues to prevail year after year.

FIA WEC & IMSA – The Future of Endurance Racing

Responsible for GT factory operations in the FIA WEC since 2013, Manthey Racing plans to deploy two factory Porsches in 2026. In parallel, the team is expanding into the IMSA series in North America.

The endurance races at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, and Petit Le Mans will take place in 2026 for the first time with Manthey participation. Thomas Preining emphasizes the team's motivation to achieve victory at Daytona and a strong debut in the USA.

Unmistakable: You can immediately recognize a genuine Manthey Porsche by its massive rear wing.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the perfect symbiosis of supercar and racing technology – built for the street, but with the heart of a true race car. With its 4.0-liter engine and 520 HP, the GT3 RS brings pure power to the street and thrills with aerodynamics directly derived from motorsport.

The sophisticated suspension and precise tuning make it the ideal companion for ambitious laps on the race track. The 911 GT3 RS is not only a statement in terms of performance but also a guarantee for driving pleasure at the highest level. Its genes come directly from the Porsche 911 GT3 R, making it one of the most coveted supercars for circuit enthusiasts.

The GT3 RS Manthey Kit – Racing Technology for the Street

The 911 GT3 RS Manthey Kit is designed to help drivers with the highest ambitions and demands achieve personal best times and new ideal lines on the race track. Based on the production version of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the kit was developed with the utmost precision and subjected to extensive testing on the Nordschleife.

The kit's development was carried out with particular focus on precision and attention to detail. Extensive test drives on the Nordschleife – the world's most demanding test laboratory – have elevated performance to a new level. Thus, the Manthey Kit combines the technology and experience from successful race cars with the requirements of modern street vehicles, bringing proven racing technology directly to the street.

What Does the Manthey Kit Include?

Porsche GT3 RS rear wing swan neck detail – characteristic aerodynamic element of the Manthey Performance Kit
The iconic GT3 RS rear wing: The Manthey Kit optimizes aerodynamics for maximum downforce. At 285 km/h, the complete package generates over 1,000 kg of downforce.

1. Semi-Active Coilover Suspension

The heart of the Manthey Kit: The Manthey Kit includes a semi-active coilover suspension with adjustable damping. The aluminum construction saves weight without compromising stability. Up to 30% better spring rates ensure more precise handling in fast corners.

The coilover suspension is optimized for dual use: street AND trackday. You can drive comfortably to the race track – and immediately attack best times there. The suspension harmonizes perfectly with the high-performance brake pads for the race track.

2. Magnesium Wheel Set

The Manthey Kit features a weight-optimized magnesium wheel set. The wheel set is optionally also available in black to emphasize a particularly sporty look. With 12.6 kg less unsprung mass, you feel the difference immediately: faster response, better acceleration, shorter braking distances.

The magnesium wheel set can be used both on the road and for trackdays – street legality is maintained.

3. Carbon Aerodisc

The carbon aerodiscs optimize airflow around the wheels and thus improve overall downforce. They are also available in black, which further emphasizes the vehicle's sporty design. The carbon aerodiscs can be used both on the street and on the race track.

The carbon aerodiscs are available as an individual component – current prices upon request from Manthey Racing. The upgrade becomes especially noticeable at high speeds – exactly where the GT3 RS plays to its strengths.

4. Aerodynamics Package

The aerodynamics package of the Manthey Kit increases downforce to over 1,000 kg at 285 km/h. This massive downforce – the "wing monster" upgrade – enables cornering speeds that simply wouldn't be possible without Manthey.

The aerodynamic components are the result of countless hours in the wind tunnel and on the Nordschleife. Every part was optimized until performance was right. In combination with the right tires for your trackday, the aerodynamics package unfolds its full potential.

5. High-Performance Brake Pad

The high-performance brake pad is street and trackday approved. Immediate pedal feedback and consistent friction values across a wide temperature range make braking predictable – whether during the first braking in the morning or after hours of track time.

The Manthey Kit also includes a special brake line set that ensures immediate pedal feedback and consistent braking performance even at high speeds and changing temperatures.

ESC distributes Manthey street brake pads – ask about direct purchase at your next trackday or contact us for personal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions About Manthey Racing (FAQ)
