What is the Salzburgring?

The Salzburgring is at Plainfeld near Salzburg in Austria. It is 4.255 km long with only nine corners, but it has long straights and a dramatic Alpine setting. In use since 1969, it is one of the oldest purpose-built circuits in Austria. Unlike most modern tracks it has almost no chicanes — speed is the main ingredient here.

Character and layout

The Salzburgring has a character all of its own: several very fast corners, long acceleration zones and a notorious bus stop chicane. Top-speed sections alternate with moments that call for a delicate turn-in. Set between the mountains and a lake, it is one of the most attractive track day circuits in Europe.
