What is the Sachsenring?
The Sachsenring is a 3.671 km circuit near Hohenstein-Ernstthal in Saxony, Germany. Best known as the German round of the MotoGP calendar, it is also a technical classic for car track days, with 14 corners, dramatic elevation changes and the notorious Omega complex.
Layout and character
The Sachsenring is a driver's circuit: tight, often off-camber corners demand precise vision technique and clean braking. The Sachsenkurve near the end of the lap is a rollercoaster section — fast, blind and narrow. Drive it cleanly and you have genuinely learned something. Unlike more open circuits, outright top speed matters far less here.
Track day at the Sachsenring
The Sachsenring is one of the most technical track day circuits in Germany. It sits in the east of the country and is easy to reach from Leipzig, Chemnitz and Berlin. Safety standards are MotoGP level, which is reassuring in the corners where the car is genuinely at its limit.
