GT4 Class
What is the GT4 class?
GT4 is the entry level of professional GT racing, managed by the SRO Motorsport Group. Compared with GT3 the cars are cheaper, with less aerodynamic downforce and less power (around 430 to 470 bhp), but they are still full professional race cars. Typical models are the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport, BMW M4 GT4, McLaren Artura GT4 and Mercedes-AMG GT4.
How GT4 differs from GT3
GT4 has less downforce, less power, simpler setups and lower running costs. A car costs around 200,000 euros against roughly 500,000 for a GT3, and season budgets are far lower. That makes GT4 both a stepping stone towards a GT3 career and an attractive entry for pro-am teams. The circuits are the same as in GT3.
GT4 series around the world
GT4 World Challenge in Europe, America and Asia, the Nürburgring Endurance Series, the IMSA GS class, Belcar in Belgium and ADAC GT4 Germany. For licensed privateers it offers a solid platform and a professional atmosphere. For trackday drivers, a GT4 car is the logical next step up from a road car on cup tyres.
